How Would I Wear Python Print Knee High Boots

It´s time that I tell you girls how much I fancy a pair of python print over-the-knee boots. My husband once asked me, "when will you wear it?" He thinks I´ll end up wearing them only for an outfit post. But seriously, how I adore python print knee high boots.

But I also have to be true to myself. No matter how I love it, I probably have to think twice before getting a pair. I´m petite, standing 5´2". I believe a pair of patterned knee high boots will do no good for me given my height. I may do fine with black, nude or ivory, but with python-print? I´m not sure.

Shopping the Trend at a Discount

Last Tuesday evening, after doing fitness, hubby and I drove to pick up some grocery supply. On our way to the grocery store, my husband noticed the huge 50% off banners plastered across the glass walls of a nearby shopping store. My husband asked if I´d like to have a look, of course I said "yes!". So we did take a look after we´ve bought our grocer.

Unfortunately, it was quite late, exactly eight o´clock and the store was closing. Yesterday evening, after hubby came home, we headed straight to the store to shop their half the price sale. 

We spent more than an hour delving the store. Hubby shopped for him and I shopped for me. It was so tempting to buy everything, you always think of how much you can save! But at the end of the day, I thought of how much I could spend, instead.

So I stuck to the pieces which I´ve wanted to get and concentrated on them. First, I went to the shoes. I love ballet flats and I´d love to have them in trendy colors and print. I got a pair of mint green and a pair of orange stripes for ballerinas. You know, mint green and stripes are the trend of the season. I also went for brown oxford shoes. There were other shoes that I wished I could buy - summer wedges and heels - but they all ran out of my size.

Then to the belt. Slim contrast-waist belts are quick outfit enhancers so I made sure I got three of them - in turquoise, mustard yellow, and studded navy blue.

I´ve been meaning to buy an orange jacket but the one that I´m fancying from another high-street store is at a price I´m not willing to pay for. I waited for that jacket to go on sale but it didn´t, even until my size ran out of stock. But in this store where we shopped, lo!, and there´s an orange jacket in a quarter of the price of the other orange jacket. I didn´t have double thoughts, I took it. 

And those bags? Yes, they´re the same style in two different colors, mustard yellow and tangerine tango. I couldn´t let go any of them, so I took them both. Their quality is a lot more than their price. The material looks strong. I also brought home a striped cotton (roomy) tee for summer and a high-waisted shorts, denim. For additional accessory, i grabbed a cute nude lace-y scarf and an animal print necktie.

As for hubby, he brought home some goodies too, pants, t-shirts and belts, and he´s quite happy about them. All we paid for half a price.

So you see, when it comes to shopping, patience can pay its price. Just imagine what would I feel if I went for that first orange jacket which looked so similar with this cheaper one I got? But you need to be quick too. Good deals come flying off the racks.

Recent Purchases - Fashion, Fitness, and Organization

Lately, I've been really trying to keep my purchases to a minimum.  All of our extra money is going toward the wedding and saving for our upcoming Honeymoon.  I've limited my fashion purchases to items that have been on my must have list.  I'm also working on accomplishing some of my goals for organization and expanding my exercise routine. Then of course there is the wedding. I'm carefully curating my purchases to meet these goals and not to break my budget.

Two things that have been on my must have list for some time are a foil print sweater and low heel pumps.  I found this fantastic foil print sweater at Kohl's for only $34!  That's a far cry from the over $100 sweater I originally fell in love with.  I know it will be in heavy rotation until warm weather arrives.  I love heels but my Rheumatoid Arthritis makes it hard for me to wear high heels every day.  I've found myself gravitating toward all of my kitten heels (about 2" high).  They satisfy my urge for heels but are low enough for me to wear all day without pain in my feet and ankles. These adorable red bow pumps from Talbots were a steal at only $26.

I've set a few goals for myself this year.  An important one was decluttering our home and making it more organized.  I've been slowly cleaning out drawers and cabinets and organizing the remaining items with storage boxes and bins.  I've purchased some from Target and quiet a few from the dollar store.  Another big goal of mine was to take up some new forms of exercise.  I've never been a runner but decided to sign up for a 5K. It's not the first choice from someone with joint issues but I am never one to shy away from a challenge.  The Color Run is a fun way to do a 5K.  I'll be making a tutu to run in and running with some friends.  I needed some cold weather friendly running gear for training, like this jacket.  I grabbed it on the sale rack at Target.  I also needed a new pair of running shoes. These are ASICS, my favorite brand.  I'm using an iPhone app to get ready for the September run.  It's called C25K.  It's a free app. There are quite a few out there but this is the one I'm using. You start out with a combo of running and walking. The app synchs with your music and beeps when you change from walking to running and then back.  It's great.

There are also quite a few things on my wedding list.  Things like additional makeup items I need and items to wear.  I sprung for a really expensive bra a couple weeks ago. I've also been searching for a pair of fancy flats to wear, in case my heels become too much.  I found these gold sparkly flats and love them. Even better they are on sale at Talbots.com for only $20.99.  I've read great reviews of Urban Decay Primer Potion.  People swear by it as a way to make sure your eyeshadow doesn't fade.  Even long wearing eye shadow fades on my oily eyelids.  I really hope it lives up to the hype. I will keep you posted.

Fashion Week opened in NY on Thursday, and thanks to my friend, I was able to catch a glimpse of the BCBG Max Azria (top) and Richard Chai shows (left)! I've been blogging about fashion deals since 2007, so it was a wonderful experience to see the clothes at the beginning of the fashion cycle, before they've hit the stores, and ultimately the sale racks! As we sat in the AMEX Sky Box, perched high above the runways, sipping prosecco, we watched the fall lineup for BCBG Max Azria, filled with loose, layered silhouettes in subtle shades of black, white, grey and oxblood. I might start sporting a knitted cap next fall (see top photo), since all the models were wearing them. It seemed to make all the clothes "les Mis" cool. Then, the show by Richard Chai (mostly menswear) had a handful of women's wear looks that caught my eye (see the jewel-toned purple dress, lower left). I might be inspired to work more of that vibrant purple into my fall pallette... maybe it will even be the Color of 2014!

The perfect date night

I so desperately want to take my hubby to a restaurant he has never been too. Get dressed up and go have a great time. In fact I know which restaurant I would take him to. Fishbones, is an amazing restaurant with a fabulous menu. It is a bit on the pricey side but, worth a splurge. Try the macadamia crusted fish, you can't go wrong.  I even know what I would wear, or what I would LIKE to wear.

Yeah, that would be it. Ahhh, but this is something that will have to wait. Wait along with the restaurant and the wine I would want to consume there. (Future thinking) Date nights will become a luxury or a scarcity,babies tend to do that. The impending thought of it makes me want to go on a no baby date before the little ninja arrives. However, my issue right now may prohibit that notion. Gift card to Cheesecake Factory or not, we will be shackled to the house waiting. Until, the day comes where we can.
